Wednesday Yarn Along...

I am very diaper focused right now in my crafting.  I am sewing diapers now, trying a new pattern that I printed from a website.  This is nice because my own patterns were very lopsided.  I am also crocheting a wool diaper cover.  I'm so very, very cheap and that combined with my love of doing things the "old fashion" way, means that I will make many things that I can, over buying them.

The book, which is over 100 years old, is called Hurlbut's Life of Christ,  For Young and Old.  I am reading it to the kids for our Bible time and in addition we do bible memory using this excellent system.

What I love about Hurlbut's Life of Christ is it is written in a very understandable way and it helps the kids and me to understand so many things from the gospels that we wouldn't otherwise have known, such as, Rabbi means "teacher", Jesus Christ when translated means "Jesus the King", in the Temple in Jerusulem, the outer courts were called "Court of the Gentiles" and the gentiles and women couldn't go past them, into the inner courts.  He explains a lot of things about the culture and environment at that time.  It's a great old book!

Love your blog header pic!! That is great!! Thanks for sharing the diaper links...I'm so glad there are free ones out there. I'm still using pre-folds...but it would be fun to make one or two fitteds.

Seeing a diaper cover that was hand made was one of the reasons I wanted to learn to knit in the first place. I want to get that good..SOON!!

I love your pics! It seems that you and Ginny have a lot in common. I will be interested in seeing the diaper cover when it is done. Those things are still a mystery to me. I'm older and never heard of them until recently. :)

I love the new knitted diaper covers, wish I'd thought to make them when mine were little, and I love the pattern for the diapers, so sweet. Many blessings and so excited for your new expectancy :)
