Wednesday Yarn Along...

I'm not sure if I've posted the link here before to my sister's blog...  She is the inspiration :) for yarn along...  She is quite the knitter, among many other talents!

I've begun the blue hat for our baby boy due in April.  I think I'd like to learn to do something a bit fancier, maybe I'll go over to the library one Wednesday evening when they have their knitting club, and someone could teach me!  I'm not a book learner.  I tried that to learn just the basic knit stitch and it was a disaster.  I had to wait to learn until my sister, Ginny, was in town.  I'd much rather say I learned from my dear sister, then a book anyway!

We haven't begun William Tell, but we are starting it within a day or two.  It is next in line for our history read-aloud.    Here's a quote from the dust jacket, "Most of us think of William Tell simply as the expert archer who shot an apple from his son's head at the command of a cruel Austrian official, but in this book Katharine Scherman tells the entire exciting legend of a national hero who defied the tyranny of a foreign ruler and helped unite the states of Switzerland into a free republic."  I think my boys are going to like this one!  The Middle Ages is so much fun for boys especially to learn about... knights, castles, sword-fighting, legends, dragons...

Also, I finished up drawing and painting the insect prints for the babies room.  I had two frames that I wanted to fill, so for the second frame, I chose weeds to draw!  I think my sister might like those.  She often identify's with interest the things we hastily yank from our yards and gardens.  :)

It was especially fun to show my finished "works of art" to my boys because they so enthusiastically liked them!  They would drop their jaw's and say, "Did you really do that MOM?"  They all want me to draw something for them too.  So that will be on my to-do list now.  It's pretty fun, but the weeds were definitely significantly harder than the insects.

Those drawings are lovely! I love knitting when I'm pregnant for the new baby. I always make them things they can only wear for a month, but I have so much fun making tiny things I can't help myself!
